Kansai Area Pass

Kansai Area Pass is the narrowed version of JR West Rail Pass, which is also the narrowed version of JR Pass (nationwide) and all of which are issued only to foreign visitors to Japan. Kansai Area Pass allows unlimited use of JR lines within the red indicated area on the map below. You can take Haruka express train between Kansai Airport and Kyoto but you can't take any Shinkansen express with this pass.It is good to use when you travel to Himeji, because the fare from Osaka to Himeji is 1450 yen and 2210 yen from Kyoto to Himeji. The prices of the Pass are 2000 yen (1day), 4000 yen (2days), 5000 yen (3days), and 6000 yen (4days). Multiple days must be consecutive.

As for purchasing, you don't need any application before entering Japan. You can get the pass by showing your passport at one of the following stations: Saga-rashiyama, Nijo, Uji, Kyoto, Ibaraki, Shin-Osaka, Osaka, Kita-Shinchi, Kyobashi, Tsuruhashi, Tennoji, Shin-Imamiya, JR-Nanba, Bentencho, Nishikujo, Kobe, Shin-Kobe, Sannomiya, Nishi-Akashi, Himeji, Kansai Airport, and Nara.
